OC46 fuel pump

Normally hear the fuel pump working when I hit the switch. Fuel pump is elec, no sound and engine will not fire, turns over OK.

Tech manuals in possession do not show an elec fuel pump on an OC46 so assume this is an after-market installation or a factory job on a later model than the tech manuals show.

Being electrically "challenged" I am not sure what do to next. One side of the switch is wired to the ammeter, other side goes directly to the fuel pump.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

I have no idea how the add-on pump is plumbed on your machine. But, the OEM fuel pump that bolts to the engine is not very expensive. Why not just buy a new mechanical pump and do it right? A mechanical pump works better then electric anyway since it's more able to draw fuel. Electrics are only good a pushing fuel and need to be almost - gravity fed.

Gas tank on the OC46 is under the operator seat and well below the level of the fuel pump so gravity feed can't work..must be some other route for gas to get from tank to pump?????

Thanks for the reply; A new pump may be the quickest solution to the problem.

Sometimes the most frustrating problem has a very simple solution, once you locate the problem.

Hot wire lead to the elec fuel pump was not crimped securely to the connector but..

The derned fuel pump is in a very difficult location to get to AND. the hot wire terminal on the pump is at the bottom of the unit, not side or top where easy access would be possible.

I have no doubt...it is an after-market installation.

Once I got all reconnected OC46 eventually started OK and got it back under cover. Been raining off on for last three days.
