OT...Ignition switch will not stay on

Step-daughters Chevy Corsica will not stay running unless you hold the key. What is wrong....How to I fix it/ Thnaks Joe

I don't know but the same thing happen to my friend's Ford wrecker truck. Works fine as long as someone rides along & holds the key on.

Get a new switch installed.

I agree with IAGary. The contacts in the switch are worn out, causing the need to hold the key just right. Replace the switch.

Boyfriend replaced the whole steering column from a donor car. switch has a detent but car does not stay running....Is there a relay to hold it running? or did he get something out of time? Thanks
