800-1000 lbs. 70.00 75.00
Dairy Calves
90-120# 30.00 50.00
120-150# 75.00 120.00
150-250# 125.00 185.00

A bargain for the calves, but how can ya make money on them when the steer prices are staying so low. On average dairys are running $.35-$,45 less than beef of the same weight. I dont know what to do with the 3 red holstiens I have. Thay are at 800#+ and losing me money everyday. I have a Swedish Red/Red Holstien cross that gains just looking at feed or hay, but them other three, like putting quarters in a glove box with no bottem.

Eat them or sell to someone else to eat.Buyers want black & black baldies only. Everything else gets discounted severly.I hear you. I have hereford cross calves that bring .10 less than my black ones. Why????? Great job of advertising by the angus folks screwed the rest of us.Same beef, maybe even better, who knows.

funny, the beef price in the store is same,no telling what color hide it had,or had a frozen tail or ears,no telling age either.
it is like always, a money thing.

If you can find a small packer, sell them on the rail.take them to an auction, someone is gonna have a good day.

I hear you. Saw an ad for Black Angus beef, by the whole, half or quarter. Looked up the number, got the address, not a "Black Angus" on the place, not a darned thing wrong woth any of the steers, darn nice ones, they just were not Angus, looked like Simmi/ angus and hereford Angus crosses.

Did you notice that about every breed of cattle now offers "blacks" as a color of their breed. Next thing Charlois will have "blacks". Sure is a stupid idea people have about the color of a critter makes for better meat????? Years ago Dad had the idea of crossing Brown Swiss with Holstein to come up with a cross that made for more milk but had the butter fat of Brown Swiss. Well, it didn't really work out, but you ended up with a black critter, so maybe we should do that now and advertise it has a lean, Black Angus type, the yuppies will go nuts for it.

Check it out. A black Charolais
