JD 1020 Dozer

Thinking of looking at a 1020 JD dozer next week...What are some things to look at? Guy says it starts and runs good, undercarriage is worn, but we just need a small farm dozer. Manual angle blade, diesel eng. what are these worth? what do they weigh? 1962 model if it matters....Thanks in advance.....

If you find a 1020 dozer - buy it. It will be worth a fortune since it will be one of a kind.

Maybe you mean a 1010? If so - it weighs 7400 lbs. for just the crawler itself. You can add another 1500 - 1800 lbs. for a dozer bolted to it.

Dont know for sure about the 1010 or 1020, havent seen it yet. Guy had advertised as 1020, and when i called and asked about 1020, he told me bout it so....Maybe he is wrong??? I dont know much about them, just need a small farm dozer for odd jobs, and having some fun.....

Like jdemaris says probaly a 1010,
But could it ba a 2010?
2010 is just a little bigger than the 1010, 47hp instead of 37hp.

Testing, Steering clutches and brakes aren't too bad to fix, but the tranny & drive clutches are killers to fix on these $$$. Make shure ALL gears both fwd and rev work and shift like they should, do some figure 8's with it BOTH directions.
"worn out" under carrage can last for many years in occasional farm work, and over a period of years you can slowly rebuild the worst of it as time and money allow.

Here's a link to "HER" 2010 so you can compare. We paid $5,000 last year at auction, with 6way hyd dozer.
Her JD 2010

yes, it is a 2010. I wrote down the model wrong when dad called this morning. Will probobaly go look at next week. Guy wants 2500.00 for it...Good???bad???

at $2500, I'd buy it just for the motor, Excelent machine, plenty of power for it's size.
Nebraska Tractor test #830, max drawbar pull 10,283#

The ONLY reason we paid so much for ours was the PAT Dozer on it, almost had it for $3,000 but another guy wanted it cause of that Power Angle Tilt Blade.
Book says the shipping weight was 8,500#. (without the Dozer) Ours weighs in at a little over 10,000#. I hauled it home 75 miles on a 12,000# cap. trailer behind my 3/4t Chevy truck.
