Farmall 656 power loss

I just purchased some land and a Farmall 656 was included. The tractor has a gas engine, not sure of the year. I can use the tractor for 45 min to an hour using the Disk and than it looses all pouer and shuts down like it is running out of gas but no spitting just sudden loss of power. If I push in the clutch the engine picks up but than looses power when I start to move. If I leave it for a day and come back it runs fine again for about an hour and than same old story. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try looking at the fuel flow from the tank at the carbuerator and check the screen in the sediment bowl see if the fuel shut off is fully turned on If any of these things are not right it will starve for fuel. Also try changing the fuel filter if it has one in the line.

Check the gas cap and make sure it is venting. Sounds like it isn"t working properly and after some run time it builds a vacumn, cutting off ample supply of gas.

I agree with others about checking fuel "first". But, could also be (1) Coil (2) condenser (3 ) Points (probably not - but cheap try. Bob f.

It also could be the fuel shut off solenoid in the carb, electrical and fuel related
