A while back I asked the question 'what are the differences between a Ford 621 straight and a 621 Workmaster.

Several oppinions were offered and Soundguy asked for pictures. My software was broke and I just got it up and running, so here are the late pictures.

There are no differences in the front ends between my 641 and this 621 that I can see. In fact other than the obvious different model features, I can see no differences at all.

The 621's & 821's were supplied WITHOUT factory PTO or hydraulic lift. No other differences that I can see either.

That decal would indicate an industrial front axle to go with a loader with the backhoe shown on the tractor. Wether it is an actual heavy front end or not I cannot tell but a dealer may have just put that decal on with the standard front axle just to sell a tractor to somebode that did not know the differences and with the 4 on the hood it sounds like it was a corperate unit at one time when new so would have been easy for dealer to do that as HQ would have never looked at tractor even if they would have known what to look for.

I tried to explain your axle type in your last post but maybe you did not see it so here goes...

Ford made 3 axles in the time frame your tractor was built.
1) A regular adjustable axle for the ag tractors. Your 641 most likely has this axle.
2) A heavy duty adjustable axle for the ag tractors. This axle looks the same as the regular ag axle but the wheel bearing; center pivot pin; wheel hubs; spindles; ect are different. (They are heavy duty) Your 621 has this axle if the sticker is original and not just something someone stuck on there for looks.
3) A solid non adjustable industrial axle. Your tractor can not have this axle because there is no such thing as a 601 light industrial. It would have been called a 2000 not a 601.

Some other differences between your 641 and 621 are.........
The 641 came stock with gauges; hyd system; 3 point; PTO; swinging drawbar; lights; and tool box with tools. None of these are standard on a 621 but all were offered as add on options.
The best way to explain it is by looking at say a Ford pickup. The 621 is the XL model and the 641 is the XLT model. You can get everything a XLT pickup has on a XL pickup it is just not standard equipment on the XL. Cost extra to add it.
A lot of state or city tractor were 621's because they could buy it cheaper and add PTO but no 3 point. They did this because they pulled drag brush cutters rather than 3 point cutters.

The decal does not indicate an Industrial front axle. It does indicate a heavy duty adjustable front axle which the photo can't prove or disprove.

Thank you John for your patience. I did see your first post but wasn't smart enough to look in the right places for the physical differences. Closer inspection showed the 621 spindle is different; it's obviously heavier than the 641.

I have pictures if anyone wants to see.

Thanks again!
