Wat years were the first Styled A's come out with hand start

hi i just bought a John deere A today and it is hand start i took the serial number of of it and it matches up to be a 1944 but i thought they only made the handstart a"s in 1939 and 1940 and some in 1941? so was wondering when the styled A"s or wat years the hand start was in before they switched to electric start 6 volt system? There is a hydraulic pump behind the magneto that runs the hydraulic loader that is on the tractor are these pumps worth anything or not! Thanks!

Electric start was a option since 39

A war tractor did not usually have many options. They were glad just to have enough parts to make a basic tractor.

They had hand start A's thru 1946, I believe. The pump usually brings a good price on E-bay.

I bought a john deere A 1944 it has a loader on it.Did john deere come out with there own loaders.Thanks
