O/T Defender Pro 2008 Heads Up

I just found out the hard way that Defender Pro 2008 anti-virus software as sold by Walmart is NOT compatible with some of Microsoft's recent updates. If you run it, your computer will go ape. This was admitted to me by a techie from Defender Pro.

I'm now on my wife's computer while mine is in the shop being fixed. (Hopefully).

Thanks, but why in the world would any one allow Microsoft to "update" their computer? Russian roulette.

It's FUNNY when the "CURE" is worse than the disease!

Most anti-virus products act like a virus themselves.

And, then there's "MightGoSoft"!

Goose,I found out the exact same thing two years ago. I have a copy of Defender Pro 5-in-1 sitting on my desk right now that cost me $19.77 back in 2006. It was a horrible experience. It slowed my computer right down to a crawl and was basically starting to ruin it right in front of my eyes. I was lucky enough to get it uninstalled and got mine back to normal. I was trying to get rid of a trojan virus that I had. I ended up using spyware doctor and that worked. Now I haven't had any problems with those trojan viruses for a long time. If the computer acts up, which is very rare, I just do a system restore to an earlier date. So I guess I can throw the box of Defender pro in the trash! Been sitting here since 2006 for no good reason.
