differences

Can anyone tell me the difference between an oliver super 55 and a 55? Are parts interchangeable? From the pictures I've seen they look alike.

Interesting question:
1976 bearing catalog engine ID index shows 55 gas and dsl and 55 Super gas and dsl, and same with 66, 77, 88...1993 bearing catalog has same listings (55 Series, 55 Super, 66 Series, 66 Super Series, etc)..
1970 belt catalog has dropped the "55" from the belt section, has the rest, but includes several 55's in the thermostat section, with the rest...
2000/2006 filter catalogs only list Supers (Super 55, Super 66 etc)...

The reason I ask is that I own a oliver 55. Painted on the hood (which is long woren off) was Oliver and the numbers 55 not 550 or super 55. I still have the tractor. It is wearing out in places and I need parts for it. I recently replaced the radiator on it. I ask the used parts dealer if a super 55 would work on it. He said no but he had a tractor he could get a radiator off of. He said he would test it and if no leaks send it to me. It fit fine was exactly like the original except didn't leak but I'm wondering if he wasn't taking me for a ride. Now I need the steering parts. If a super 55 will fit I'll just find one but don't want to pay money for something that isn't going to work.

Well as I said as far as I know they never made a 55 and what most call a 55 is really a super 55. If you ask down in the Oliver forum you should get more people to tell you if I'm right or wrong which I could be but don't think I am
