I have heard of 300-6 Ford engines factory installed in combines, swathers and other machines. Just wondering what all the different machines they went in. Also read somewhere there was a turbo 300-6 engine installed I think in a combine, is this true?

I had a New Holland self propelled baler with one. Memory fails me little, but I think it was a 1465. Wayne

I've seen 'em in Owatonna swathers.

Got one in my truck too and it's got lots of power yet.

Bought and sold an Oliver Super 77 with one put in there. Had a lot more power than factory. At a dealer in North Branch, MI they have a junk yard of sorts out back with quite a few combines that have 300's in them. One is the bigger 1400 or something similar to it, maybe a size smaller or two. I have seen one 300 on an irrigation pump in Canada with a turbo on it but it ran on natural gas. Back when I was in college I worked for a logging company as a part time mechanic/grease monkey. There was quite a bit of equipment with 300's on them. Lots of pumps, generators, power units for stackers. Started a lot better than the diesels in the winter, for some reason.

Had a NH 985 combine w/ the 300, neighbor had a 975 w/ the 300 (optional for that model). Uncle has a chipper w/ the 300. Not bad on fuel, considering they're GAS engines... I updated to a NH 1400 w/ 380 c.i. Ford diesel. Easier on fuel.

We had a Ford 300 six in a Roanoke, two row tobacco combine in the late 1970's, early 1980's. It had a belt driven governor to control engine speeds. IT LOVED GASOLINE!!!
