Hi, I'm new here and I've just found this forum. I thought that since there's a lot of tractors with PTO's somebody might be able to help me. I have a friend that wants to install PTO winch in his 1991 Jeep Wrangler. I found out that good option is to put Ford NP435 transmission since it has PTO port. Any idea where I can get affordable PTO unit for this trany? One company I called told me $700 for new PTO. Also where can I get catalog with PTO units? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

Years ago I had a 1970 F350 flat/stake bed truck.
I wanted to convert it to a dump truck.
Bought a dump frame off an F600 from a junk yard. It was one of the old types with pump, cylinder, reservoir, and control valve all-in-one on the frame. All I had to do was hook up a PTO shaft to run the pump. The PTO shaft was the most expensive part of all this. It was about $185. My transmission was an NP435. The PTO kit was about $130. Came with gearbox and cable shifter and all gaskets and mounting hardware. This was in 1989. I don't remember the brand or any details about the kit. Other than the gearbox was blue. I got it from Crutchfield Equipment in Chattanooga. I think he gave it to me at cost.

Don't know that any of this relevant almost 20 years later. But I would think $250 tops.

Back at the time, the Ford dealership would install a PTO gear and pump unit all-in-one for $1000.

Hope this info helps some.

In the seventies, my Dodge pick up had a np435 trans behind a 318 , and I was told that Chrysler owned New Process Gear Div.

NP435 is a New Process Transmission ( made by New Process Gear) and also found in other appplications besides Fords. You might want to look for one out of an old dump truck or flatbed dump , then you could get one allready set up with a pto .

First of all I used to work in the Chelsea PTO training department. I am sure I can find you a catalog. Now since you are talking winch, is your winch mechanical or is it hydraulically driven? If mechanical do you need a reverseable PTO. I will need a U. S. Mail address for the catalog.
