I"ve noticed that John Deere has began making some of its smaller 50-90 hp tractors back in the U.S. (4000/20 series and 5000/25 series).
Around here people are selling their Kubotas
and Yanmar powered Deeres and looking to buy the new American made tractors.

Maybe CaseIH/New Holland and AGCO will start up some American plants and we can get back to some old fashion color wars!!!!! !!!

No such thing! Like Kubota, Deere is assembeling more low HP models in the US, but in the under 80HP market, Kubota has by far the largest investment in the US/N. American market with their factory in Atlanta producing tractors, loaders and lawn tractors, and their implement plant in Canada...kinda like Toyota who just surpassed GM with their US investment...I love to collect old American iron, but it's time some folks wake up and sniff the coffee. In the words of Bob Dylan..."The times they are a changing." Even have Toyota in NASCAR!

Times are a changing, but it doesn't always mean for the better. This global economy crap was broght on by manufacturerers that want to increase profit. The US has let this happen. You read every day about trade deficits, but our government will not address it. We became strong because we were self sufficent, now we rely on everybody else. Where did Japan get its car technology, from the good old USA, because it felt guilty for kicking their butt in WWII, after they attacked us. Sorry for the tirade, but the US has to start looking out for themselves

No tractor manufacturer will ever build all its own parts and products here in the USA ever again because of simple ecomonics. it cost too much for salaries and benefits for employees and too much for taxes to setup again in the USA. everything is now a "global ecomomy" because its much cheaper that way. we just have to get used to it. american made products used to be the world standard, but its all gone now.

I am going to take the opposite viewpoint, I predict that eventually all of the tractor manufacturers will bring all of their operations back to the US.and Canada. Currently there are way too many quality issues with the imported units, and way too many implements shipped over here that have the wrong parts included or just plain missing critical parts.

I think if you have two similar tractors sitting side by side the one that says "made in the USA" will outsell the other 10 to 1. I think John Deere is moving back to this.

The large AGCO and MF are made in France; the small ones are made in South America.

Unless it has changed recently, which I haven't heard about it the 4000 and 5000 Deeres are only assembled in the U.S. I think this is true of the New Hollands that are assembled in Georgia also.I think just about all or most of the parts come from all over the globe. I know that the engine in my 5320 is built in India and some of the 3 pt. says made in Spain. The 6000 series Deere is built in Germany I believe and the 7000 and above are built in Waterloo, Iowa.

The way i understood it is that the 4000/20 and 5000/25 series have new john deere designed and built powertech engines and are made in Georgia.
