I always see those horseless carraige type cars at engine shows and wonder if there are plans availible for them , I have talked to these people but not about where to get some drawings . They look like a 1901 Oldsmobile or something , use a verticle shaft late model mower engine and wheels from Harbor frieght. I would like to build one someday...

I would like for someone to tell me how to receive information about getting blueprints or plans to build the 1901 Oldsmobile curved dash vehicle.

I have a friend with a 1915 (?) Jackson. He's just making the last adjustments on getting a Minneapolis Moline engine in it...one he bought that was military surplus. Had about six hours on it. Came off an asphalt sprayer.

Maybe they get 'em from this place? They make "replica" cars like that.

Hi Other Doug,

popular mechanix from the old days (60's) had plans for a 3/4 scale 1903 (maybe 1913) oldsmobile. it could be built and legally placed on highways. i have the magizine and also zeroxed copies somewhere. also, there are simplified plans offered in some of the antique engine and tractor magizines. based on lawn mower transmission and moped wheels. i'll try to find the info, but it may take a while (i'm an information hound, but its starting to stack up)

Are these 1/2 scale cars, runabouts? If so they were made back in the 70s-80s, as sidewalk toys, haven't seen plans for them, but hey, get out your tools, an engine, tape measure, and dig into the iron pile,,,,, oh, and buy the wheels. john ne.

Went to the Mason Dixon Fair in Delta, PA in July. On display was the really neat old tractor, on steel. On close look I noticed the front axle and steering looked surprisingly identical to the one on my old Sears Suburban garden tractor. The hood which was square and had lots of slots for aircirculation was the outside cover of an old window air conditioner. I realized the whole thing was from junk parts put together to look like an old tractor. The metal steering wheel was off an old combine and the gear shift lever was from an old manure spreader. Ingenius job. A fellow I talked to said the owner took it to a few tractor shows and got a kick out of oldtimers saying their "Pap had one just like it"

Harrah's Museum in Los Vegas (I think) has original plans for a ton of the old stuff. There is a local fellow near here who had the chassis from an Auburn boatail speedster but the whole body was missing. This fellow fabricated the whole thing from scratch and his plans came from there. He was quite a body man, made fenders and everything exactly like the factory stuff.
