For some 1 x4's and metal spring teeth, at least it is if you want to buy it from CasIH. Easily decided to make my own using the old teeth and hardware with new bolts, washers, and nuts. Eighteen slats for a 22 ft combine head cost $42 and a couple days labor.

That is the way to do it.
Our son's 9400 JD combine had 2 of the 4 header slats broken just before wheat cutting recently.
I made some pipe sleeves on my 100+ year old lathe to put inside them and it has been working great.
I ran the combine last Saturday for him.

Haha, I remember making them in my basement one winter when I had a broken arm...for an 810 Case header. They are not a great design, easy to break if you happen to push up a dirt pile.

I am pretty sure this one was used in a WW1 shipyard.
It is a Monarch that was driven from overhead line shaft.
It has an electric motor mounted above now with flat belt down to the pulleys.

I redid the ones on a 4400 JD I used Ipe or Brazilian walnut that I got off a job we were doing. Very hard wood.
