Transfer Pump For Diesel Fuel

I need a 12 volt transfer pump for a 100 gallon transfer tank. I will probably only run about 300 gallons of diesel fuel through it a year and I would like to add a filter to the fill hose where it hooks to the pump. I want 12 volt so I can just hook it to the tractor when fueling or my pickup. Don't really care about the gallons per minute just want something that will hold up. Looking for one I find them anywhere from 60 bucks for a cheapie to 6-7 hundred bucks. I'm leaning towards a cast iron Extreme Power pump with the hose and a filler pipe for around 225 bucks depending on where I get it from. Looking for your thoughts or recommendations.

I'd have to go out and look to see what brand mine is, but it wasn't the most expensive thing in the store. I bought it at Family Farm and Home. Probably some Golden Rod or something. I've had it for quite a few years. One thing I found out the hard way, if you clip positive to negative, it runs backwards. LOL

We have a couple of the GPI pumps. not real impressed with them. One has to be used when it is cool out or the circuit breaker trips and has to cool off before it will run again. Probably need to change it. they kind of suck to work on with things crammed in that little compartment.

Bought mine at a farm store, 15 gpm, does well pumping 100 gal tank. Usually do four to five tanks a year. I had to make the 12v leads from 14g extension cord and put good clamps on it. Have a place on a wall to store it, like one of those bicycle hooks, with ties for the hose and electric wire, otherwise it's a mess.

Do not remember the brand but I purchased my pump at TSC. Had it about 7 years with no trouble. I plumbed a filter and a volume gauge into the line. 12 volt pump, i power it with a jump box when I use it. During an average years I pump about 800-1000 gallons with it.

We have 5-6 of these. Been running between 20 and 30 years. Link is to pump only. Add filter or filters and hose/nozzle.

this is what I have. cheap and lasts for 5-6 years already. I paid $69 there a little more now I am sure. Cheapest fuel transfer pump around and I user it on my nurse tank on the back of my truck. Also use it to empty semi tanks or old tractors headed to scrap.

We've had great luck with the Fill-Rite brand. I've tried the 7 or 8 gpm TSC house brand before, but it was very short lived on durability. I wouldn't skimp on getting a quality one as they keep increasing in price over time it seems. Get a good one and it'll last you.

I sold those for 13 years. Do yourself a favor, buy a Filrite brand. They were the longest lasting brand of pump I sold.

I have filrite and gpi pumps.

Both work and do the job. BUT... filrite shows ALL of the parts for my old pumps.. All, including armatures bearings etc. And filrite will rate its pumps for gasolene and other fuels as well as diesel.... Where my gpi pumps are only good for diesel? Whats up with that?

Thank you all for your responses. It sounds like the Fill-Rite gets the best reviews here but as was said they aren't cheap. I suppose its like most things as you get what you pay for.

I have had several over the years, but my present one is a Fill-Right and is the best one yet. I have it wired directly to the battery of the pickup with an in-line fuse. No clips and no extra wires around. Great luck with it!

I have a 12 volt 15 gpm Fill-Rite I ve had for 15 years that s pumped over 8500 gallons of diesel
Just purchased a 120 volt model for another tank we ve added near the shop
Found a few good deals on FB Market place

I bought the cheapest one TSC sold a couple or so decades ago. Pumps out fast. Installed the Goldenrod filter assembly with the clear plastic filter spin on cover at the output of the pump, I think is the name that they also sold....Golden something....a popular cartridge fuel pump filter. Run it off old batteries that no longer have the amperage to start a vehicle. Have had zero problems.
