Life expectancy was much much shorter when those pictures were taken, so the people in the pictures are younger most of us here on this forum. In 1860 the average life expectancy in the US was about 40 years, in 1900 about 50 years, and in 1935 about 60. Today it is nearly 80. Women live a little longer than average, men a little less.

I will admit that I am still alive because of modern medicine techniques that was not invented yet 50 years ago.

Looking back 50 years ago, I do not remember many farmers that were still actively farming past the retirement age of 65. Today that is almost the average age of US farmers (60?).

Great photo taken by a good, big camera and skilled development and properly made film chesmistry.
Nice to have a smooth, hardsurfaced road to use.
Must be somewhat greenish, bushy, not slithery-slathery stemmie stuff to stack like that.
Wonder how they plan to turn corners to get off the road. Leo
