My ripper has no stress relief, such as a shear pin. It doesn't look like yours does either. Does anyone know why that is so? I know a farmer near by who has destroyed a ripper because he hit a big rock and there was no stress relief mechanism. I think the guy was ripping too fast, I go real slow with a foot on the clutch in case I hit something.

This one from TSC has no shear protection . Thats why it is on the Ford. It doesnt have enough power or traction to break it. I bought it to bury some cable. I dont think it would last very long on a real tractor

Subsoiling will work better for you if you could do part of it in the summer when it is dry then do the rest the next year in the dry summer. It will fracture better the drier it is to a point.

Unless your ground is dry enough to be planting you did more harm than good using it now. You just compacted it more. So when it gets very dry later in the year do it again every 30 inches apart and then go crosswis the same spacing and run as deep as your tractoer will pull it. May need to due it 3 or 4 times to get deep enough to do any good. You will not hurt it with your tractor. I own a 41 9N and a 44 2N bought new and so I will know what they will do and both are fully loaded with CACI And when doing all the farm work has 3-400 homemade concrete weights on both rear wheels of the 2N. And you need to get your tires loaded to do any good with that subsoiler.

They are designed for tractors that do not have enough power or traction to break them. If you can't pull it, you probably shouldn't be pulling it.
