That snow fence brings back a lot of memories. Dad always ran snow fence north of the driveway and the grove. It made for a great playground of big snow drifts... you could pretent to be an explorer at the north pole. :)

We used to tunnel in drifts. We don't get the snow, or if we do it melts quickly, anymore.

(quoted from post at 06:37:32 02/18/23) We used to tunnel in drifts. We don't get the snow, or if we do it melts quickly, anymore.

There was a gulley not too far away behind our house, that was near the eastern edge of a long open field. The snow would drift into that gulley and make for deep drifts. We used to tunnel way into them and make a big open "room" where we were higher than our entrance so that our body heat would stay in. We talked of bringing sleeping bags and air mattresses and spending the night but we never did.

Sweetfeet. I did a lot of pretending growing up, I wonder if many young people can do much pretending, while playing games on their cell phones. Just an observation. gobble

Same here.....about 10 ft. deep. A lot of fun for my brother and I and our buddies.Only one time in my long life that I remember it drifting all the way across.....winter of 69/70......we could ride snowmobiles across it that year.
We don't seem to get that much snow here anymore either.
