Tractor was running fine, stalled and would not turn over, found loose nut on solenoid, I tighten it and still will not start at push button start.
I can put a screw driver on solenoid and it will start right up and run fine.

I did install new solenoid, battery cables and resister for wiring this was all done before issue.

Input would be helpful.

When you tighten the nut on the solenoid were you able to prevent the stud from rotating? If the stud rotated as you tighten it, it may have broken loose inside.

9N doesn't have a solenoid unless the original starter button has been taken out of play. A 9N had a push button switch that pushed a part forward and made contact sort of like what you did with the screw driver. If you found a loose nut then things inside of that switch may not be as they should be now and it needs serviced

Pull the starter button out of the top by unscrewing it then look carefully at the washer fastened to the lever by the 2 rails in there. Might have to push button while looking at it. I worked on one the washer was broken off on 2 sides and when turned just right it would not push the dea far enough to engage the starter. Put a new washer on there and soldered it on worked fine after that.

A photo of the tractor and the parts you
are working with would be very helpful to
those who are trying to help you. You
have either mis-identified the tractor or
it has been ''farmerized''. As ''old''
said, 9N's didn't have solenoids when
they left the factory.

The 9n has a large push button switch located in the lower part of the steering box housing. There is a hortizontal rod running through the steering box
that connects to a little rocker that is pushed down by the large push button on the transmission top. The linkage gets loose in the joints and won't press
in far enough to activate the push button switch.

The simple cure is to JBweld a nickel or large copper pipe cap to the end of the push button to take up some of the slack.
