I have a 1942 John Deere b Benn sitting for years had it fire up a few years ago and was running ok but all the sudden the rpms started climbing uncontrollably and now it either runs wild or shuts off depends on throttle position any help would be appreciated

ASSUMING the governor-to-carburetor linkage moves freely, it MAY have ''tossed'' it's governor weights.
