A10 downdraft carb

Trying to get f-12 to run. I have gas in the bowl. But it won't go thru carb and into intake manifold. If I take it off tractor with gas in bowl and tip it sideways, gas will drip out the delivery nozzle. If I hold it straight up and down and crank it, no gas comes out bottom of carb. Tried pull starting and left air pipe off from radiator. Gas comes spraying out of air intake when pulling it gear. why isn't gas going thru carb into intake.

Could you be pull starting it in reverse? There should be suction on the air intake when cranking. What are the compression readings? Jim

Gas spraying up out of the carb sounds like restricted exhaust.

Has it been stored for a while? Could be rodent nests in the exhaust. If it happened suddenly, sometimes the inside of the muffler can collapse and block the opening. Try loosening the pipe from the manifold for a test.

Jumped cam timing can cause that to some degree, but gear driven cams usually stop turning when there is a failure instead of jumping out of time.

Hellgo George welcome to YT! I agree with the one that has suggested that the compression be checked. I am wondering if you have a couple stuck intake valves. I sent you an email that hopefully has some useable information for you.

I will give more details regarding carb problem. To see if anybody has more ideas. Just got done completely rebuilding motor. Everything is either new parts, rebuilt parts. used parts or reused what I could save. I got a carb rebuild kit. from Rice equipment. If I squirt a little gas into intake, it will fire. But nothing coming thru when I crank it. It fires up when pulling in third gear, but when I push clutch in, it dies immediately

The cam timing may be off. even one tooth is very significant. The hard part is determining the facts without tearing it down to the gears. measuring pulley or flywheel location at intake start to open position and comparing it to a known running same engine. Jim
