Got a little seat time

It came time to get the land ready where we will hopefully have a few sweet taters, melons, and maybe a few pumpkins. All the other tractors are either tied up or have been swiped by my oldest son. Wound up having to use the loader tractor which needed running anyway. This is the first time in a good while some of this soil has seen daylight. It made the 674 bark a bit in places pulling the 4 bottom MF plow. It was good mental therapy if nothing else good comes of it.

Seeing the dust that you are making by turning ground is not a good sight. We don't have enough moisture in this clay ground here to even think about hitching up a plow. Hay yield here looks to be much lower unless we can get rain and warmer temps. I hope the conditions improve for us. Did you get a good stand in your corn and tobacco?

It has been too wet and cold up north. Went on a trip this week, across southern MN and SD to the Black Hills... in all that distance (over 18 hours drive time, round-trip), we saw one farmer planting in SD... looks like almost nothing has been planted in either state yet this spring.

Did see growing, what I asssume to be winter wheat... or it could have been oats too, I guess.

It's getting pretty dry here also Jim. The crops are having to put on some roots to keep going. We did receive a hard 1 tenth shower this past Thursday. Settled the dust for a day maybe. All of the baccer and corn looks good thus far, especially for the cool dry weather we've had on it. Trying to get all of the 28 S nitrogen applied to both crops to get in a better position to plant soybeans when it does rain. Got some tobacco that'll have to be plowed next week as it's flattening out fast.

Thank you. It took me awhile as a kid to learn how to run a row, but after a rear end adjustment from dad, I learned what he meant by keeping your work neat.
