My 49 Pontiac saw the light of day today for the first time in 20 years.

My Grandfather bought 3 new ones in 1946. One for himself and one for each of my 2 uncles returning from wwII. They had the straight 8. Drove out to Michigan to pick them up from the factory. They drove Grandfathers 42 Cadillac out there and sold it. Drove the new Pontiacs back to Mn.

Wonderful car. Dad bought a new 49 when I was 7. Had the straight 8 and hydromatic. Still remember how the car seemed to float along.

This also has the flathead straight 8. My youngest son(33) has been bugging me to finish putting it together for 8+ years. I've had the car for 25 years and did a lot of the mechanicals' and striped it down and had it painted when I first got it. Put a new interior in it and started putting the chrome and stuff back on when life and tractors got in the way. I drove it on and off the trailer when I brought it home but it hadn't run in 10+ years. We started fooling with it at Christmas and got it running and have been messing with it when he's had time since. Yesterday we drove it out of the barn. Still a bit to do, but it will be at the Dream Cruise this year.
