(quoted from post at 20:37:06 02/22/22) Your Cat dealer has many parts for the pony carburetor--it is most likely a Zenith made for Cat
You need a parts book for your D2 that covers your serial number the serial no is on a tag on left rear housing and on the engine block behind the pony clutch controls
(quoted from post at 06:39:13 02/23/22) Caterpillar D2 s/n prefix for 1939 would be 3J or 5J. Can you post a picture of the machine and/or the s/n tag? There should be one tag
on the left side of the engine and another tag on the transmission case under the seat, upper left side looking from the rear. Those
should match if the engine is original.
(quoted from post at 14:01:09 02/23/22) You don't have enough posts to include pictures yet. Once you get past 5 or 7 posts it unlocks.
That said I can't imagine that there is anything all that different about a "10P" vs a 3J or a 5J.

(quoted from post at 11:37:40 02/24/22) Glad you found it. The SP on the end means Special. Now what is special about it I likely couldn't tell you. Caterpillar stamped SP if
something was different from the basic build. For example I had a D4 Traxcavator serial 7U prefix that had SP on it. Before Cat bought
Traxcavator they would sell dozers to Traxcavator or to the dealers and they would fit them with the loader. The Traxcavator model had a
longer undercarriage than a standard D4, hence the SP for Special on the Serial tag.
