sad news for all you dog lovers

Just saw on Agtalk web forum where Bill on the farm ( who used to frequently post on this site) had to put down his canine friend, Wrigley. 14 year old. A lot of us on here used to enjoy Bill's posts and pictures of Wrigley and the farm operations when Bill was a regular contributor.

So sad, dogs become one of the family and it is almost like losing a close family member. Where does the time go, seems like Wrigley was just a pup when he was posting on here.

Yes they do. When I got home from the hospital/rehab unit in June. My son had a puppy waiting for me. Best thing that ever happened to me. We do my walks together and he always knows. When my pain is getting to me.

We eat, sleep and go for rides. Just wish he would not eat. Dog treats in bed.

When I think of dogs and the family I always think of kids being part of that. These days, with more young couples choosing to not have children, a lot of those couples have dogs (often in pairs it seems) to fill that void. They indeed are man's best friend (even though we've gone 'dogless' ourselves over the years).

Sorry to hear about Mr Wrigley. I was recently trying to find this picture of Wrigley riding in PU leaning on armrest.

Wrigley will live on in the memories of hundreds of YTers. So sorry we won't see his bright eyes again. Stop by and see us BOTF.

God gave us dogs to teach us humility. We lasted a year after losing Bud, in our 80's with a 3-year-old Airedale, the kids know we are nuts. Think often of your friend and don't be afraid to cry. Wrigley is happily waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

Always enjoyed seeing the pics with Wrigley riding in the tractors and trucks. You don't say the RIDE word or the DUMP word in my house because my black Shepherd/Lab mix perks up, twists her head around like are we leaving yet?!. One of the hardest things I've done over the years is putting my pups to rest, cry like a baby every time I do it!!

Having lost many dogs in my 74 years, I often find myself wondering how nature and humans can take a wolf and turn it into everything from a chihuahua to a mastiff but can't breed more longevity into dogs. Always so sad to lose them in so few years.

Sad to hear that. Im sure he listened to more Cubs games then most people. RIP

I remember Wrigley. Sorry for the loss of a good friend. We have had many dogs, and cats. It is hard to see them go. We give the best of everything which makes their passing a little easier. We have one dog, and two cats now. Stan

when Sue B (girl friend) comes here with her dog Frankie he will stand in front of cupboard where dog treats are he will bark if we don't get one fast for him.

we have 3 phases we use carefully 1 is outside 2 is truck ride they will beat us to door 3 is Frankie ( girl friends dog) is coming

Sorry to see this. They are definitely best friends and family. I had some that I will always miss and one sitting next to me that will join that list unless I go first.

Pets give affection and loyalty so freely their passing is like losing a family member. We have had many over the years. All were special.
We are kind of taking the Betty White approach to pets. We will not adopt another as it might outlive us.
We enjoy the pets of others and always show affection to visitor's pets.

He prefers steak, shrimp, fish, peanuts and a few other items. Try to feed him liver and lamb. He will give you that you must kidding look. He does love banana nut ice cream. Before bedtime.

I give him what he wants. Because he does help me through the bad times.
