Finally put a heater in the tractor shop

Been wanting something in the shop for awhile now to take the chill off in the winter. My wife picked this one up for me.

This is a 25000 BTU electric unit and it will be heating an uninsulated 700 square foot shop. I dont think Ill be working in shorts and a tshirt but hopefully it will be at least comfortable with out coveralls on. The older I get the more I hate working in the cold! We got it all wired up now I just need some spare time to actually continue with our projects!

Insulating It has been on my mind! I know it be better. Just worry about mice making a home if I use fiberglass batting. Maybe spray foam would be better. Well use it like this for now now and see how it goes.

Looks nice. 25000 BTU should heat quite well even uninsulated. I had a 5000 BTU unit in a 26 X 24 drive under garage. It was insulated and I could do a vehicle oil change without wearing a coat or hat once the heater had warmed the space.

Is that 10-3 wire connecting to it? Or maybe larger for those BTUs?

What are the holes in the ceiling area in front of the heater?

My 24x24 insulated attached garage stays around 40 degrees on its own. A 1500w baseboard heater will warm it enough for me to work without a jacket.
My garage has insulated garage doors, same windows as in the house and

finished like the inside.
You will have a happy place to work in the winter if you finish off your garage.

Not sure how combustible spray foam is if not treated with fire retardant.

Ron. The instructions call for 8 gauge thats 8-2 with a ground in it. Those arent hole in the roof. Thats a row of knots in the plywood for the roof.

My 30x50 shop is uninsulated and I have vehicles coming and going when working on them so I don't try to maintain the whole shop, just use the 20# bottle of Propane with the round 5-15k BTU radiant heater attached and just keep in by me as I move around the shop....have it on a little HF furniture moving dolly making it easy. On really cold days I have a 30k BTU jet engine blaster type Propane heater with fan and I hook that up.....and put on ear muffs.

Will that use about $20-$25 dollars worth of electricity a day to run that? I know my 750 watt ceramic heaters use about a dollar a day to run each one of them.

My garage is attached to the house primarily for my bride's car. It is insulated and walled with plywood instead of drywall so I can hang cabinets and brackets and not really worry about studs. Also insulated garage door. I heat it with a small 220 heater. If I need to work on equipment in the winter we put the car in the barn for a few days. Ellis

All you guys with a insulated garage door what were you thinking did Y'all have money to throw away.

I can tell ya from experience a non insulated garage door is one big heat lost. A heater of any kind will have to overcome it.
