How old are these cans

I bought these cans probably 25 years ago
in a lot at an auction with other modern
round cans. I think i paid $1. Thought I
could cut them for drain pan's or open them
and put bolts in them. 5 gallon in
cardboard.. I got about ten. Been in my
rafters and now I'm cleaning. What year
would they be from?

My dad bought oil in cans like that in the 60's.

Southern States Coop used to sell that brand oil in my area.

Pre 1972? as UNITED CO-OPERATIVES, ALLIANCE OHIO

Existed from 1936 until a merger and name change occurred in 1972.

But the Unico brand may have continued.

The MS API rating was in use from 52 to 71.

Couldn't find anything on DG.

If I remember right Unico used to be a brand Farm Bureau Sold for oil in barrels and 5 gallon cans around here. Central MI.

For got we still have a few of them around we used them for fuel after they were empty. Probably about 70's. Got some old cans in quarts from around that time. Should use it up before the cans go to leaking.
