I am in the process of resurrecting the 1954 International R120 I bought back in September. I need to repair or replace the water pump. Pump listed at truck resto places is pretty expensive. My question is, does anyone know if a waterpump for a 460 or 560 tractor is interchangeable?

they are a truck engine in them tractors so you would have to remove yours and do a comparison. i could look on my 560 gas if you have a photo of your. or get a napa parts person to look them both up.

Appears the IH number is different, 69495R1 for the truck.
Many IH numbers for the 460, 560 tractors.
But the surface that bolts to the engine block appears the same.
The differences might be the hose connection is angled or a different size, has more or less or different sized heater hose ports.
Might be more or less measurement from block face to fan face.
Fan mount might be different.

If you have amazon prime, order a tractor pump and see if it will work. If not free returns....

I have a 1954 R-100 and had the same problem as you do. I bought a water pump on Amazon for $80. It was listed as fitting a 460 or 560 tractor. It fit the SD 220 except that the mounting flange for the belt pulley was to short. I measured the difference between the old pump and the new pump and had my buddy make me a simple adaptor in his machine shop. The problem was solved and it fits and works perfectly. I wish i knew how to post the Amazon link here, sorry. Its nice to have a good friend who owns a machine shop!

Thanks for the replies. I do have a couple machinist friends, I'll get a tractor pump and see of they can make me an adapter. I have Prime, so wouldn't be out much.

The last rebuilder in our area closed up a few years ago. I may give that place in Arizona a call if a tractor pump doesn't work out.

On my 1964 1100 with 241 engine. I ordered one of the expensive pumps, and was sold a tractor pump. It bolted up, but fan shaft was too short, and hose diameter was 1/4 bigger. I made an extension for under fan, and adapter for hose, so you can make them work. I went to a local IH dealer and compared what I was sold. Company that I bought it from just quit responding. This has been several years but I could have saved over half from CaseIH, and more off flea bay.
