L 8000 dump bed

What do you mean ASSISTANCE needed going up or it hangs and dose not want to come back down . If it hits the third stage and stops under load and does no want to go up with out help then check hyd pressure on the pump as the third stage is the weak stage for lifting power . When i ran coal bucket i had my pump set for 2850 PSI BUT i hauled BIG loads on the avg of 45 ton a load and SOOOMMMMME TIMMMES a weeeeeee bit heaiver . Ag lime was a tough dumper and liked to stick , many buckets played the fall over and play dead dumping ag lime . Now ya did not say what size scope you have but i am guessing and 8 inch and personally i would have around 2000 Psi . Now if it hanging once up, then it is the packing ring is to tight. They need set just tight enough they don't leak but the tube will side freely . Next thing to look at is if the tube has a bulge or kink . If this is the case a new/ rebuilt scope needs to be installed.

Is it a single acting telescope? Will it hoist the bed
empty? Are you helping it with a backhoe or
something? Is the action of the cylinder smooth or
does it feel like its jamming up? When it stops and
you have to help it, is the hydraulic pressure going
over relief ( engine starts lugging when it hits the
hard spot).

Hey vet, I agree with the ag lime. It is always an entertaining show to watch them dump. I have yet to see one tip over but I have seen very close. They usually spend twenty times more time waiting for it to slide than they do raising the body. Patience seems to pay off, LOL.

My buddy and i use to use ag Lime as a back haul , as we would haul coal out around Toledo Ohio . The left over coal dust added in the lime to slide out . with our big scopes and bigger pumps we could run the loads up fast and bump the top scope . The jarring would break the load loose . We had the best suspension one could have under a coal bucket for stability , it may ride a little rough but would let you dump on a mountain side , plus we ran just a 30 foot box . Depending on how far we hauled it it paid pretty good . Longest haul was over into Pa. and that was playing with fire . Pa at the time was 73280 gross slow Poke and i would take 90-95000 NET . Most trailers would have a rough time with a load like that , that did not start sliding on the third scope . Slow poke and i had custom built East Mfg. trailers deigned and built to haul 100000 lbs . Bigger axles , bigger brakes extra cross members , i went one step up with and all Aluim . frame it saved me a 1000 lbs in light weight .

We had to use a loader to basically push it down. It goes up fine but gets stuck when it hits the 3rd cylinder.

Two possibilities. The packing nuts are too tight, or
the cylinder is coming apart internally. Get a long
magnet handle and swish it around on the bottom of
the reservoir. Or, if baffles prevent this, youll have
to drain a little oil to see whats in it. If a double
acting telescope, the system may have a filter. Cut
the filter open and stretch out the media to see
whats in it. If grindings in the oil, or filter, nothing
you can do for that cylinder.
