Volkswagen antifreeze

huh, how did a volkswagon come into play, you going volkswagon. far as i know one is pink one is green and pink was for aluminium and diesel use. i may be wrong but i may be right.

G12 and G40 are not the same thing but both are compatible with VW.
They are both phosphate free.
Some say GM Dex Cool is the same as G12 but I would not use it in a VW.

Stay away from coolant for Asian cars. It has phosphate in it.
And never mix differant types of coolant even if both are compatible with your car.

Its also wrong to think color has anything to do with type of coolant.
Asia uses a differant color for each type of coolant.
But in Europe each manufacture has a differant color even if they have two types and the same type from a differant manufacture will be a differant color.

So pick either G12 or G40 (better one) and go with it.

Oh GOD today ya can't keep up with what goes in what , I have the OLD GREEN STUFF two Orange and a Purple It is mind blowing , The Dodge cummins take one the Durango takes and other the Sebring takes another the old Avenger took the purple I think the new jeep Cherokee takes the purple . Scotty beam me up and lets do a time warp and go back to the 60's thru early 80's

Does it take the same a Deutz tractors?

The problem is, if you don't know what's in it now, it will need to be drained and flushed with water.

Then assume there will still be some water left in the block. Adjust the mix ratio accordingly.

Just use universal. Goes in everything I own and have never had a issue yet. I think a lot of it is bs told to sell more expensive crap

What's the difference between Dot 3 and Dot 4 brake fluid , One Dot

What's the difference between g40 and g12, 28 g's.

I have no clue about anti freeze.

In the 60's I did have a VW bug. I don't remember where I put the antifreeze.

VW's are off my buy list because the closest VW dealer is 80 miles away.

Both are anti freeze, different technologies.
One is OAT and the other is HOAT. Pick one but don't mix.

Maybe that's because it was air cooled....as I recollect having had a bug and a bus.....on the Bus, wife and 4 kids (one still nursing) left home and went to visit grandmaw...200 miles mostly on the old CCC or WPA concrete highway with the expansion joints every 20' or whatever the distance.

About 50 miles into the trip the 36 hp 4 banger lost a cylinder. 45 mph was top end and 45 and the VW wheelbase made for a rocking chair the rest of the way....just about everybody was car sick with the usual results when your stomach is upset....and if it wasn't the smell changed its mind.

Got to grannys and next day went used car looking...didn't have any luck as I was a non local GI.....but we endured the trip back with all 4 hitting and very soon after getting back to the base, we had a different mode of transportation.

Fast forward.......Bought a used bug for wifie to drive to work. Big sport for local smart asses when she happened to be the first one in line for a red light was to push her out in the intersection.......that one parted company also.

I had a bug drop a valve in I65 200 miles from home. Got engine fixed and sold it.
Last VW I've owned. I figured the VW was imported as a way for Hitler to get even for loosing WW2.

Well I was contemplating flushing it good and dump green antifreeze in it. The car is is old enough if it was a human it could legally buy cigarettes.

I have trouble enough just keeping antifreeze in things let alone which color. All ours are green and if it has a different color it wont be long and it will be green.
