Old dealership photos/memerobilla

So Im wanting to build a 1/64 scale display of a old farm
equipment dealer from around the 70s but I cant find any good
pictures on the interwebs so I figured you guys might have
some its going to be a JD dealer. I also have been wanting to
collect dealership memerobillia from all the old dealers in my
hometown Ft.Lupton Co so far I have a match book from the
farm store the Deere dealer in the 40s and Vincents hardware
sticker which was the case dealer if you have any old items from
dealers in Weld County co or Ft.Lupton please let me know.
Thanks,
Vince

I don't know if this will help but a couple of the dealership buildings that were built around here during the 1970's were brick for the parts/showroom area and metal siding otherwise. Another was just pole barn type metal sheathing. Sales offices were along the outside of the parts department. Some dealers prior to the 1970's used Quonset type buildings. Some were converted gas/service stations. In some cases when the additions were put on the old building went to the service dept or parts storage. The new addition went for parts counter, showroom, sales, and offices. A good project nonetheless. I wanted to do something similar with our nearest dealer who lasted until the mid-1960's centered around a Lionel train set up.

I wish there was a website that had what you are looking for. I enjoy old dealership pics as well. I did have a few that I found on vintage aerial saved into my old computer but not sure how to get to them. A few years ago there was a book printed on old dealerships and it was ok but not as good as I had hoped. If you find some post them here for us. Tom

I may have found something interesting to you. I went to Green Magazines web page and in the heading it says dealers. Click on that and lots of old pics come up. Tom

The guys who had good memories of those dealerships no longer retain those memories or are not with us anymore. I am not that old but my memory for that sort of thing is not what it once was. The good thing is a fair amount of those buildings locally are still standing and not all that different from their JD days. Some of the Land Pro dealer locations here are in buildings that have been around for decades selling JD.

I think you may be a bit disappointed if you find the pictures. A few of the old dealerships were big and well designed. But a majority grew over time from small shops able to work on small open station tractors with 50 or 60 horsepower, in to shops needing to work on big, tall, wide tractors and combines. They did this by adding on, often cobbling on a space to work on this big equipment, that dwarfed the original shop. Many weren't very pretty, nor were they very efficient. As consolidation came about and through the many ag ups and downs, and manufacturer consolidations, many of them simply disappeared.

Yeah, a lot of them were hole in the wall type operations regardless of the brand they were selling.

I have a 1:64 Farm diorama that I use to occupy my time in the Winter. Don't have a dealership (or any memorabilia) but if I can help with anything related to the modeling process, feel free to hit me up.

Also, I'd LOVE to see pictures of your model as it develops.
