Wow.
Originally designed to haul artillery for the French Army and it is considered the first practical (??) self-propelled vehicle. Apparently, they still had a bit
to go on developing a a connecting rod, crosshead slide and reciprocating crankshaft instead of this machine's ratchet drive!

There was a replica of this built that they actually operate at special events. There are videos on YouTube of it operating. Definitely worth a watch
