'49 Dodge Update

New fuel pump, new coil, and carb rebuild and it runs! Got it to run a few seconds on bypassing the ballast resister; bought a coil w/o external resistor. Carb was a disaster inside and one check ball was missing.

No narcotic like success.

Ernie,

My first car was a 1949 Buick Roadmaster but I was only 14 years old when I bought it (1958). I didn't get to drive it much but I unlawfully drove it on back roads in Northeastern Ohio. When I turned 16, I sold the Buick and bought a 1950 Dodge. It had a hole in the block from a thrown rod but I found a 1951 Plymouth engine in a junk yard and did an engine swap. The old Dodge was a pretty good car and I drove it a lot through the last couple of years of high school. It had a fluid drive transmission that wasn't too quick, but it worked.

Is your Dodge a truck or a sedan?
