Generator guestion

I have a 10000 watt Generac generator Its wired in to the house works great when the power is out. My question ,I guess the start battery is not begin charged while running I looked it up and that is how they are made , seems completely stupid , so I should be able to plug the small external charger that came with it and plug it into the generator so when its running the start battery is begin charged ,your thoughts

Would make more sense to me to keep the charger plugged into the house and have it maintained, so when you need it to start it will. Won't do much good to only charge it when the generator is running, as what do you do when the battery is dead and no electricity. I guess jump it with the lawnmower or truck, but then why have a battery on it in the first place. Unless you run your generator every week.

As the other guys says. It is designed to keep the battery charged when the generator isn't running so it should be plugged into the house wiring

I assume it is a charger/maintainer? And without a manual to guide me I would plug the charger into a circuit that is supplied by both line power and the generator so it is always on.

No it is not they only want it plugged in 24 to 48 hrs at a time I might have to get a battery tender and leave it plugged in all the time thks

Why have the added complexity of an onboard charging system when you will always have power available (either from the utility, or the running generator) to power a much simpler, more reliable, battery charger?

Makes sense to me.

The stupid part is the charger is not a maintainer that you can leave plugged in 24/7.

Either I would install a maintainer, or put the supplied charger on a 7-day timer.

(quoted from post at 11:28:10 07/16/21) Plug a good trickle charger in the house and run a wire to the Gen. It will keep the battery up all the time.

Why not just bring 120V from the line side of the transfer switch ?
