How long before waxing new paint

I painted the Oliver 1550 on May 29 with Van Sickle enamel paint. How long should I wait before I can wax it???

Some enamels take a long time to fully cure.

I would give it plenty of time, even beyond the fingernail test. Maybe even several months just to be safe.

New paint shouldn't need wax at all, but if you want to, it would
depend on the type of paint. It needs to fully cure first.
The enamel you mentioned, I'd give it 4-6 weeks depending on temp.
If it's stored indoors, you may never need it other than to make it easier to wash the dust off.

As others indicate at least a month or it stops emitting odor. That tractor does not smell, it is beautiful. Jim

Can't tell you about waxing new paint.
Most of us here can probably tell you about Whacking new paint tho. Usually you'll have a scrape or smudge before it is fully cured.

When its at shows and tractor rides, the overnight dew leaves water spots on the hood and fenders. A buddy recommended this, just a quick wipe cleans and shines. Ive used it on my other tractors and it works great, just wondering if it is too soon to use it on the 1550.

The body shop boys these days deal with some pretty high-end paints, I assume he knew what he was dealing with for the Van Sickle brand, just plain old hardware store oil based machinery enamel.

I'm more than a bit amazed anyone actually waxes a tractor. Up here if a tractor gets washed once in 5 years that's a big thing!

Enamel is more porous than an automotive urethane. Waxing it will help keep dirt from sticking to it and therefore make the paint last longer.
