Yep, my neighbor. Built a berm around his barn so every time it rains the run-off from the roof runs in the barn. Can't figure out that water runs down hill.
Last year after a 6 rain he calls me up. What can I do, the cattle are sloshing around in a foot of water in the barn. I said, dig that berm out from around the barn. He said I'm not doing that, do you know how much it cost me to have that built there? Well, I can't help you then.

Anyone who has ever been involved with traffic control understands this cone!

I had a classic dumb move pulled on me I was making a right turn into the scrap yard with a junk pickup on my trailer I automatically checked my mirrors and saw a car starting to pass me on the right I slowed down until I saw the car had given up. The truth of it was the car slowed everything up

Don't feel bad; I was a City inspector, and I advised numerous people about water run-off, flooding, berms, downspouts, gutters, building in a low spot, building where an old pond used to be......... I don't think anybody ever listened.

I'm not trying to judge you Phil, but a basic important point on a CDL exam is to not allow room enough on your right when making a right turn, for anyone to try to pass you on your right.

The only problem with the theory, about no room to pass on the right when turning is the real world. Also with Oversize loads that is not always possible to make the turn and not have the load hitting poles curbs and anything else that might be in the area as you turn. Been there. Detaches with only about 6-12 inches clearance don't leave much for error when turning then the least important part is not breaking off the flags.

Sorry Caterpillar guy it is not theory, it is a requirement that causes many to fail their test. It has been told about here on YT too. It goes without saying that there are situations where you have to get well over to the left when making a tight right turn, but you see it everyday, just as I do, that drivers get much further to the left than they need to, inviting an idiot that is not paying attention to zip right in there. The correct procedure is to get to the left as far as possible without opening a lane on your right, then to use the other side of the road as you come around the apex of the corner. This can require patience to wait for the lane to open up, but the good professional driver has patience.
