Ford 3000 hydraulic

So the 3000 I just bought has this hydraulic valve on the back. It is plumed from the factory remote valve under the seat. What and why? Only thing I can think of is they bungee corded the valve under the seat opened to run this valve for like a log splitter. Yes, no?

That rear mounted valve seems like it's plumbed backwards with the supply/return where the outlet ports normally go. Maybe it works ok that way. Maybe it's just that model of valve. Only thing I can think is that it makes it easier to reach for running a splitter- though I prefer the valve mounted on the splitter myself. The problem with this setup is reaching behind to operate a remote cylinder on a piece of equipment. Hard to tell in the picture, but maybe it actually is easier reaching beside the seat rather than down in front of the seat.

Ok but it has a valve under the seat so why is that valve there? Any ideas? The guy I bought it from said it was on it when he bought it and had no clue.
