2019 Dodge Ram 1500 with camper top

Hi All!
I just bought a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500...I had a camper top put on....now the Tailgate won't unlock.....is this normal?...I read in the owners manual that a tonnoau cover has to be rolled up to allow the tailgate to unlock....Does Anyone have any Ideas?

I also have a 2019 Ram 1500. I have the hard tonneau cover on mine that folds up. I can unlock and open my tailgate with the cover closed

Every cap I have seen or had, you couldn't open the tailgate with the hatch closed because it acts like a lock, so a random person can just walk up and open your tailgate to steal what you have inside.

The tailgate on my 1500 Ram can be opened and closed with the fold-up tonneau cover on. The velcro on the tonneau cover does not have to be rolled slightly either. Maybe there is a difference between various brands of tonneau covers. Mine is not very secure as anyone could roll it up and help themselves to the contents.

My '13 Ram has a three piece folding cover. Tailgate lock works as it should cover open or closed. Ram did have a recall on their tailgates, not sure what years were involved. Might want to check that.

I have a 2019 RAM Classic with tonneau, roll up. No problems.

I called the company that installed the camper top this morning....they...like ya'll....Never heard of it either....so I was getting prepared to call the dealer and talk to the service people....BUT FIRST..I went out and Tried it this Morning....NO Problem...it Popped Right Down.....I am Still in a quandary as to why I would Not open up yesterday....I may Never Know..But thank you for all of your input....Dsmythe

I still need to take my '18 Ram in for that recall. It's for something inside the tailgate that allows random accidental tailgate opening.
I bought my Ram 3rd week of January, 2018. My '96 F-250 regular cab was a nearly loaded XLT and most of the features the Ram has weren't even invented yet. I really didn't want a 4-door with a back seat. I had a small Volvo S40 sedan for 12 years, the back seat just became a place to toss STUFF. The same way the back seat on the RAM is used.
