Neighbor has an 06 c5500 with the 8.1 gasser. Its been puffing smoke on startup and making a mess of one of the plugs. We were thinking bad valve seal(s) on that cylinder.
So today was the day for new seals. I'm not sure if working through the doghouse on this medium duty is better or worse than a pickup.
What I found kind of surprised me. The intake valve guide was broke off even with the top of the block. I guess I have more of a project than I bargained for now. Any ideas how this could even happen? I can't say I've ever seen or heard of it before, but at least I guess we know where the oil is coming from.
