Using the archives

Have they changed how the archives work?? I was looking for John T"s post about polarizing a generator. I went to modern view and in the archive search box, I typed in Polarizing a generator. All of the post that came up had nothing to do with polarizing a generator, so I tried a search for John T's posts, same thing. Never did find it. Years ago, I could type in a word and only posts related to the topic came up or I could put in a name and all of that persons post came up. What am I doing wrong???

Super 99, I experience the same dilemma. Are we doing something wrong??? I also recall when the archives were more search friendly. I also assumed that John T's trouble shooting writing would always be available. So I never made a hard copy. Also the 6 to 12 volt conversions schematics were great, but I never made a hard copy, thought they would always be searchable. gobble

Here it is, I found it by doing a web search or Google using..Yesterdays tractors John T polarizing..
I have found that using both an Author and Keyword for some reason severely limits the YT Search returns. I did just enter ..John T.. as an Author search and all his posts seem to show up. There is a lot to swim through there though. I have often wondered about the tips they give to use AND underlined etc. Never really had any luck with that helping. I am 99 percent of the time posting from an iPhone so that probably makes a difference.

BAD BAD BAD advice, rust and cummins, it's only good for "A" type charging systems and MANY old tractors (and vehicles) have "B" type charging systems, which need to be polarized differently.

I'll try to remember the search bar. I took the battery out of the Oliver 550 and when I put it back in it doesn't charge, so I was /am trying to find the page for the proper way to polarize the generator. I copied it and will put it in the shop manual so I have it. Thanks, Chris

I have the same problem with the search now. Someone changed or "improved" that function. I complained to the moderator bit it's still the same. I always liked --if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I prefer to search the YT archives using Google. Just add the keyword "site:yesterdaystractors.com" to your other search words and you'll probably find what you're looking for.
