Good Diesel Engine Heater?

We used them on our propane forklifts, because they were parked outside, and would ice up the fuel system on frosty mornings. They seemed to work well for that.

Get you one of these from ThermoKing.
No electricity required. Warms up the coolant and engine in the middle of nowhere.

Only $1700

Diesel powered engine heater.

I use the tank style heaters, installed correctly the 1500 watt version can bring to temperature in less than 30 minutes.

The magnetic heater is usually like 600 watts, you need 1500 watts. A circulating tank type is by far the best in modest price heaters. In block core plug type are Ok but messy to install, and not usually as powerful. Lower hose heaters are not powerful enough either. I have heaters on 4 of my engines, and the tank typr is best. I do have a Glue on oil pan heater that seems Ok but works under a Subaru, not on a 6 cyl diesel. Jim
one type.

I like the heaters that circulate engine coolant. Some can be put into lower rad hose. The heater on my 930 Case is plumbed right into the engine block.

Even at Zero Fahrenheit, I can start this tractor with about one hour being plugged in, but the tractor is stored inside a shed also

I prefer one installed in the block, either freeze plug or existing threaded hole. Available for many tractors, but may have to order thru your parts dealer. Try NAPA. Kats is one name that comes to mind. I have several in use here.

The BEST type of engine heater is one that heats the coolant.
Warming the combustion chambers increases the volatility of the air fuel mixture and makes them start better.
Modern multi viscosity oils take care of thick oil on the other internal parts so an oil pan, mag or dipstick heater is less effective.
Best is a block heater which inserts into a frost plug - less heat loss.
Second best is an external circulating tank heater or an inline heater in the lower radiator hose.
