Ford 4500 cab / heat / ac

I am thinking about installing a cab with some heat and AC for year round comfortable work. Wondering what is the best way to get this accomplished. Not sure if there is cheap options to buy something like this or if I will have to build it. Also wondering if anyone has done something like this on a similar tractor.

IFFF you can find a factory cab for that model in a salvage yard with heat and AC,
and the components on the engine....that would be the easiest. Not many
manufacturers had such cabs on their smaller utility tractors in those days.

I have seen a few 4500s with factory cabs
with heat.These were obviously industrial
tractors,owned by county/townships and
construction companies.like centash
said,a salvage yard would be the cheapest
and easiest way to approach that.I
suppose you would want to add a/c,but
those types of cabs,have removable,or
split doors which really cools things off
in the summer.

Thanks guys. Know any online resources for finding parts in salvage yards?

I'd be looking for something with a factory cab to trade it in on. It took me a while trying different things before I finally
wised up and traded my two main tractors, that I was happy with other than the cab option, in on ones with factory cabs with heat,
air, stereo. Just saying.

I agree with the other poster about tradeing it off on another trator that already has cab with heat and air.Highly unlikely you will afind a used cab in good enough shape to use. Even more unlikely you will find one with
heat and air still in it.Then you will have to add a compressor and other related items. In those days heat and air were not common. You were lucky to just have a cab. Those 'industrial' type of tractors are usually 'beat to
crap.'Your simple project is going to turn into an expencive can of worms.

How many replies advising you to trade for a newer tractor with CAH do you need> Here's one more.

Putting a cab with heat and a/c sounds good. The cost will scare you out of it. Be more practical to up grade tractors. or get another tractor with it already on. Never have to many tractors.

I hear you all about upgrading but I really like the tractor I have. What about building my own cab?

Should be cabs around for one yet,, I used to see a few of them here,, adding a heater is no problem,, a a/c system will be a test to get a place for the a/c pump to mount and drive from they are pretty tight with the loaders they had then,, do you live in a area with normal high humidity, say 30-45 % all the time or higher? if not you can install a water cooler if you live in a dryer climate like I do and they work great, but absolutely do not work with high humidity, I installed a aftermarket cab on a Ford 5000 ag tractor many years ago with a/c,, but that pump mounted out far enough no way could a loader have been installed with it in place,, building a cab can be done as well yes seen a number of them over the years as well

The more I think about the cost and install process the more I am thinking of building. Anyone build a cab? Wondering if you used glass or plexi? Also what type of mounding did you use to hold it in place? Anyone make one with windows that open?

Yea,you can build your pwn.Seen several momemade cabs. Some hackjobes, some nice. Even on combines, swathers, etc. Use plywood,or steel. It will be a tremendous amount of work. and money. Priced new steel lately?
i hear ya about likeing your old one.But if you do buy a newer/later with cab, within a short time you will like the 'new' one too, maybe more than the old one(BTDT)
