Tour de france tractors

Was surfing channels sat morning and one channel had that French bicycle race on. What caught my eye was they were showing an old church, must have been using a drone, cause the view was from above as they slowly panned the church. But what really caught my eye was just beyond the church yard fence, it looked just like home. several tractors, a backhoe and many implements parked helter skelter just like I would park stuff. Whole view was over in about 15 to 20 seconds . Don't imagine that many people that would really appreciate seeing stuff like that would have caught it. But its good to know we have kindred spirits in France.

Ah Doug, you aint seen nuttin. About 4 days ago, I think it was stage #6, the helicopter that provides aerial footage of the Tour showed this from about 200 feet in the air: these farmers made a bike frame out of straw round bales. Then, for the "wheels", they lined up about eight tractors in a circle (line up in a circle, ha-ha) for each wheel (16 tractors total) and drove them around and around, giving the impression the wheels were in motion. I hope I have been able to explain this properly. This was one of the best Tour displays I have seen. Others have been bales that say "Viva Le Tour" or "Viva le Agricole" from the air. I watch the Tour 50% for the bike race and 50% for the stunning scenery and old churches and other structures, some which date all the way back to Roman times. The French seem to have strict land use rules as well. It appears on many occassions thathouses and such are in the 'village' and then the surrounding countryside is reseerved for crops fields and ag production. Not like in the USA where in many areas an open 100 acre fields without pole barns, houses etc is a rarity. It speaks to being able to be "food independent" which is incredibly important and largely taken for granted in this country.

I couldn't agree more Shaler, i took a differant way home couple days ago, there was another 6-8 acre field for a new home site, it was a nice triangle piece that was in grass for a beef operation, only in America !

I watch for the same reasons. In addition, I am impressed by the great condition of the roads. Most of the little roads they travel put our country roads to shame. I doubt they are repaved for the tour because of the weathered color.
