Once a common sight on most farms when I was a
kid, and there was often a metal cup hanging off the
pump. Took many refreshing drinks of cold well
water from pumps like that while hauling hay. Can’t
even think of any place that has one now.

The Amish still use them but not the old cast iron ones. They have a brass cylinder modern seals and don't loose their prime.

The tin cup in our part of the world had the words "MoreMan's Feeds" embossed in the bottom. You oftentimes got a tin cup whenever you bought a couple of bags of chick starter so you could easily fill one of those tiny chick feeders with the tiny triangular "roller" in the middle of the top so the chicks couldn't get in the tray to scratch the feed all over!

AT THE 8 IN. IRRIGATION WELL, CHRYSLER 6 FLATHEAD, AT HAPPY, TX...THE CUP TURNED OUT TO BE 1/2 OF A NAVY AIRSHIP, LIKE MACON, ACRON...COLDEST, BEST WATER...SUPER M'S OF GRANDAD WALTERS...BE BLESSED, GRATEFUL, PREPARED
