Plowing starting in the center of the field

I have a one acre field to plow and I want to start in the middle of the field this time. I don't know a good way to start this. Do you just throw the first furrow on top of the ground in each direction? That leaves quite a big area of unplowed ground. I have tried throwing that first furrow back and forth but that just makes a mess. I will be using my BN Farmall with a 16 inch single bottom trip rope plow so nothing fancy.
Any good methods to do this?
Thanks.
Dave

If it has been plowed before, from the outside in to the center, there should be a dead furrow in the center. You just use that as the starting point. If the field has no dead furrow, then yes, you just lay the first two furrows side by side, slightly overlapping. Yes, there will be a little unplowed in the center, but you'll disc over that.

Pace it off. If there is no dead furrow to find center. Then with the plow flopping the dirt to the right go down then come back with the dirt flopping towards the first pas with no furrow then the next or second round you will need to reset the front or right side of the plow to make up for the level of the furrow you will now be running in. probably need to adjust again on the third round for level to perfect it.

If I had my druthers and in an ideal world/field, I would start with a headland right in the middle and then the following year make that a dead furrow.

Field was plowed starting at the outside last time but that was several years ago and has been disked sin e then so no remnants of old dead furrow in the middle.
Thanks for the replies.

Assuming a rectangular or nearly so parcel, pace off each end and mark the center. Start there, laying the second furrow on top of the first. Otherwise, do what I do, plow from the outside in and try to find the dead furrow next year after you've worked hard to disc it in.

I start by plowing down the middle. Then I turn around and plow back driving in the furrow I just made. Then I go back and drive on top of where the original furrow was-this is the only time I have any trouble because the right wheel wants to spin on the loose, fresh dirt. But I don't really call it trouble and can compensate by lifting the plow a little. This way all the dirt has been turned over. I do use a mounted plow however. Mark.

I usually plow everything one way and usually try to turn it up the hill This year I plowed my garden by starting on each outside edge and turning everything out because I was in a hurry. It left a ditch in the center, but I put the harrow behind the disc and was able to fill in most of it.

I also have a one acre field. I just plow one way since it's so small. So, for example, plow east to west and just drive with plow out of ground back east so there is only one furrow. Takes a bit longer but being so small not much time overall.
