Found the problem

The bolt was sheared off in the shaft that runs the twine finger on the number one knotter so all it had driving the finger was the set screw .

Glad you found the issue. How similar is the knotter in that beast to the old NH balers. Are you sure that JD weights under 10,000. Just kidding.
