Need some information. Transporting equipment.

this past month I had a relative email me telling me that I had two tractors to pick up and bring home? They
are a I.H.444 and they other one is a Allis Chalmers. You might say a Texas to Benton California is a long
distance. Question is what transporting company can I get to haul these two old tractors to me. Can the
transporter unload with out a dock. Like maybe ramps to unload. Plus what do you think the charge is for
transporting buy the weight and mileage. that they might charge. thank you for your help.

The "old view" on this site shows a "hauling schedule" among the munu items on the left side of the page. Maybe someone can give you a specific answer but in the meantime I would make a post on that hauling page. I suppose there are lots of guys that check that page before making a trip and if you could catch someone going your way who needs some fuel money it could save you over a commercial hauler.

Check with a local trucking company if you have one in your area. Sometimes they are looking to fill a load or need a back haul. As far as loading if no loading dock is available try getting a tow company with a roll back truck to load them. They are not that expensive if they don't have to travel far to load it.

A lot of truckers than have step-deck trailers will also carry ramps. The last tractor I sold went to Pennsylvania, I backed the 13000# beast onto the trailer.

A bare 444 will go about 4,000 lbs. Weights, ballast etc could easily add 2,000 lbs +
What model Is the AC?
What's the mileage?
Loaders? Implements?

Two tractors will be pretty much be a load, often hear about $4 a mile these days. If they are narrow front or otherwise leave room for more on the truck, if there is a back haul of some load they can find going the other way, if you can wait a while for someone to put the timing together, it might be 3/4 or less than that.

Very, very round guess tho......

Yup you can find somebody to haul it cheap with no insurance so if there is an issue you could be out the tractors and he be out his equipment also. I would pay the rate to have it hauled bu somebody with insurance as a partial. Depending on the allis there is less than half a load there. That is if the guy knows how to load tractors.

The biggest problem I see is; Benton isn't exactly in a well traveled part of CA. Also, Texas is a mighty big state. Are you talking El Paso or Huston? Even without the missing info, I'm betting expensive.

got off the phone with these people in Texas. they told me that they had some local interest in this two old tractors. they where trying to find out why I was going to get them. the frieght bill was alot of money because of not running tractors, Flat tires which all had to be done before shipping to me. so I scrapp the deal. Thanks for your replay.
