The grill on my 340B has a plastic frame surrounding the metal grill,(don't get that) but anywho it got hit by a limb shortly after I got the tractor and I haven't done anything about it yet.I was thinking of making one out of expanded metal or an easier type mesh to cut with tin snips.Has anyone done this any insight will be appreciated.I was going to make a template with some thin cardboard?

I would think that any expanded metal that you can cut with tin snips wouldn't offer much protection for the radiator.Might want to consider something a little heavier. IMHO

I agree with JWA, too thin for any protection. I would make the template, then have it cut out of 1/8" expanded steel. Painting and good looks are important. Or get a used grill to replace the damaged one and make a brush guard out of 1/4" expanded steel mounted 2 inches in front of the original. Jim

Jwa is right. though get some that is flattened. It is much easier on thing to work with. Yes they make it looks just like regula expanded metal just that they run it through a roller or such and make it smooth like plate steel. Then with an angle iorn of 1/2 width and gauge material ti make a nice edge to work with. did this on a 574 for the grill with a piece of windo screen it keeps the radiator safe and clean.
