I have a file in my "Documents" called WLM.csv which has a whole bunch of names and email addresses in an Excel spreadsheet. I don't know where it came from. Can I delete it and not ruin my email list in Google mail? I looked up what the letters stand for. It's Windows Live Mail comma separated values. That means little to me and I want to delete the whole mess.

Ask google "what is a file extention .csv"

I did and got:

CSV is a simple file format used to store tabular data, such as a spreadsheet or database. Files in the CSV format can be imported to and exported from programs that store data in tables, such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc. CSV stands for "comma-separated values".Nov 13, 2018
 

If it were me. I would cut and paste the wlm.csv file to a memory stick. Making sure I recorded the file location before doing so.
Then try your google email list.
If it is messed up after the move then copy it back to where it was.

The CSV file is an export of an email or other list. Most programs will export these in the comma separated variable (CSV) format. This should not effect your email list in anyway if you are using Google Mail (gmail.com) if you decide to delete.

I have been in the computer industry for 30 years and use and delete CSV files all the time.

Hope this answers your questions.
 
When i save my contacts on my phone it saves them as a .csv file extension.Then i send that file to my computer for back up. That way if my phone crashes i have a back up copy.
 
You could also leave it where it is but try renaming it with one letter different. Easy to change back if it was important
 
Question, Does your Windows Live Mail work? Mine no longer works and I really liked the format. Gmail sucks!!!
