Problem with Kubota's PTO

I used the Kubota to mow with yesterday. The PTO would shut off and I wouldn't discover it until I turned around and found a strip of grass uncut.

Call me a slow learner. The problem, the PTO switch is next to my right elbow. When my elbow touched the switch it would shut off.

I can't use the seat's right arm rest. Had to rest arm on the cab.

I also found that removing the front bucket makes a big difference in the ride.

Anyone have a similar problem? How did you fix it?

I forgot to say, I had a similar situation with a conventional toggle switch.
I used a 1 inch pvc pipe cap, drilled switch hole in center and installed ic under the switch bezel.
It created a cup so that the toggle was no.longer sticking out where it would get moved unless you actually wanted it to.

Make sure your turnin it all the way on or have the dealer check it. It take a pretty hard smack to disengage mine. If I hit it hard with my elbow my funny bone would let me know it.

Bingo, Hobo.

I put FELs on in the fall and take them off in the Spring before mounting mowers.

After the first time or two, mounting/dismounting the FELs is simple.

Agreed, George.

It's easy to hit the electric over hydraulic PTO switch on my L6060 with my elbow and I have done it before.

I've become accustomed to it over time and it rarely happens anymore.

A bigger annoyance for me is the inability of feathering PTO engagement with electric over hydraulic PTO. Depending upon mower, I sometimes need to increase throttle enough to avoid stalling the engine that things hammer pretty hard upon engagement. Annoying.

It took me about five times to get a handle on it I don't even think about it anymore I will pop it off in a heart beat.. Tip don't be skeered to raise it on the HIGH side to clear the tires good...

That is kind of funny , of all the complaints (and I have had a few in 28 years) that is one I have never had. Most folks even brag on the cab layout in the new L series like George has. Now Dean has a valid complaint but electric PTOs are pretty well the norm in the industry now. Maybe we will get around to incorporating a modulating valve into that pto circuit next.

Yes it is kind of funny no one complains back to the dealer about this.

Hobo.
No loader might be better, however after I mowed I
needed to load 4 loads of gravel from old driveway.
So mowing and loading will be done each time I mow
in the future. Very simple to detach the bucket.

I can live with the ride.

Removing the entire loader I'll do it inside the
pole barn on a concrete floor.

Jerry,
Like I said, I'm a slow learner. Took me may times to figure out why PTO was shutting off. Just a slight bump and it's off. Got any ideas of how to make a cover? No other issues with PTO.
I engage pto at an idle, no problems. Then I increase engine speed to 540 PTO rpms. I usually mow between 3 to 4 mph depending on ride. The old RM660 woods mower works great.

I can tolerate the ride without the bucket.

Perhaps I'm the your first to complain. My right arm and shoulder are in constant pain. So it rests on arm rest and I drive with left arm. Perhaps I attach a cushion on fender well.

Glad we were able to have breakfast in Feb. It could be next year before things ever get back to normal, if there ever be a normal to go back to.

The cab is a good example of greenhouse effect.
If the sun is shinning, 50 degrees, turn the AC on.

What if you need to use loader and mower in summer? In winter I use a back blade.

I also have to trailer Kubota about 2 weeks to my a property on west side of the river. It's nice to use a tube in loader to run a chain through. I can't think of a safer way to chain it down.

I beach cuzz the the is to far away... I moved it forward about as far as I could its still to far away to my liking... Yes I do bump the key with my knee and shut it off I do the same on my ford 3000 its just part of life...

Make a U shaped shield and attach with a couple of self tapping screws, or change the switch to a flush mount push off push on switch.
